HELPFUL INFO

What is Eldritch Foundry?

Eldritch Foundry is a character creator wher you can design and order custom tabletop miniatures and statuettes. It allows you to custom-design your own miniature and have it fit your vision, your way. We are passionate about empowering players to make epic custom miniatures!

What makes Eldritch Foundry unique compared to other services out there?

We have a unique design philosophy in that we believe that custom miniatures deserve a high-fidelity, mature look. For us, every miniature should look and feel epic. That is why we use multiple rigs and skeletons- so that a Dwarf will be visually distinct from a Human, and an Elf from a Goliath.

Beyond that, we make sure everything you see on screen is as awesome when you hold it in your hands. We sculpt every little detail, and make sure it is tested in print multiple times before we publish any item.

Not to mention, we have special item categories to add even more epic options to your character; from gauntlets to chained weapons, to awesome base effects!

To top it off, we produce our miniatures in a unique grey resin, made to look and feel as close to resin injection mold as possible. We do this for cheaper than the competition, and we do so at between twice to four times the resolution.

What size is my miniature? What’s 2X?

Our miniatures are designed in 34mm heroic scale, on a 1 inch base. That is the pre-set size of a human (male), equivalent to 6 feet tall.

Our 2X size miniatures double sized (68mm), so twice the size of our regular miniatures on a 2 inch base.

What are premium assets?

Premium items are such that require either a large amount of added resin, or special precautions when produced. Those free-hanging nunchucks don’t decouple themselves!

I backed your Kickstarter, what happened to…?

A lot has happened since the before-times of 2019. The good news is we’ve upgraded our material drastically, and improved shipping times! But the state of the world and the complexities of logistics no longer permit us to afford free shipping, the tin boxes, and free dice. We’ve also retired our unique Kickstarter conditional base (you guys used up 20,000 of the buggers, and they were a QA nightmare). If you still have leftover credits from the Kickstarter, those were converted into a gift card balance in November 2023, which should be in your account. Thank you for your support — we literally wouldn’t be here with youi!

How long does it take to produce my custom miniature?

Once you’ve finalized your design, our team begins the production process right away. Typically, it takes about 4-6 weeks to print and prepare your miniature. During peak seasons (like holidays or major conventions), production times may be slightly longer—but we’ll always keep you updated if there are any delays.

How long does shipping take after my mini is produced?

Shipping usually takes 5–10 business days, depending on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout. International orders may take longer. We’ll send you tracking info as soon as your mini ships so you can follow its journey from our printer to your table.

I got my miniature! Now what?

Congrats! This is where the fun begins! Time to do some light washing, a bit of cleaning, get your miniature primed, and painted. Or don’t. We’re not your parents.

Cleaning

When you get your miniature it will likely have some residual resin and support marks left on it. A bit of simple soap and water with an old toothbrush will take care of any residue.

For the support marks, a small hand file will clean those right out.

Painting

While you can start painting your miniature immediately (after cleaning it), as with any good painting, we highly recommend you prime it first. Once that’s done, any set of acrylic paints will work perfectly well with Eldritch Foundry miniatures.

Home printing

For our 3d-printing enthusiasts: we offer our STL files in un-booleaned, multiple shells. Some slicing software (Lychee, we’re looking at you!) sometimes picks this up as being either hollow, or with holes – the miniature should print just fine regardless, so just ignore that false alarm. We’re currently working on implementing a full boolean solution that should fix this issue (current ETA, end of year).

What’s my order status?

You can find your order status under “Order History”. The order will either be “In work” (digital file is being prepared), “Accepted” (file has been received in production), “Producing” (in the process of being printed), and “Shipping”. Once the order is in “Shipping” you should also see the tracking number with a direct link.

When will my order ship?

Our orders usually ship within 4 weeks.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Once you place your order you have three days to cancel it and receive a refund in full. After that, the orders have been produced, and no refunds will be available. We are unable to change your order once placed. We do not offer refunds on any digital orders.

What’s your refund policy?

We do not offer refunds on printed designs (beyond the 3-day cancellation window) nor on STL purchases. This is because:
1. For printed miniatures: each miniature is custom printed based on your specific design choices. Once the order is placed, resources are allocated and costs incurred to bring your unique design to life. Since these are personalized designs, they can’t be restocked or resold, making it impossible to offer refunds.
2. For STL files: when you purchase an STL file, you’re receiving a digital product that’s instantly downloaded and used. Once it’s been downloaded, it’s not possible for us to retrieve or ensure it’s not used, which is why refunds are not feasible for digital items (this is true in general, not just for our digital downloads).

My item is broken, incorrect, faulty or MIA

If your item arrived damaged or incorrect or not at all, contact us with a photo, and we’ll get it reprinted for you!

My country is demanding a customs fee!

We produce out of England and ship worldwide- and our shipping cost covers shipping and handling, but NOT customs. So please make sure to check at your local customs office if they’re going to charge you extra (or not — most don’t). We don’t control your local customs laws, sorry!

Disclaimer: 90 Day return window

All requests for returns and replacements of products purchased from Eldritch Foundry must be submitted within a 90-day window from the date of receiving the products. We reserve the right to reject any replacement request made after this 90-day period. For further details, please contact our customer support team.

Log in issues

If you forgot your password, you can use the password reset option to get a new one. Be sure to check your spam folder for the password reset email. Please note that if you logged in using social media log ins- you should always log in using them (as the password is in Google or Facebook’s control).

Payment errors

The vast majority of payment errors are the result of a wrong zip code (or a mismatch between what the bank has on file and what was entered). The second most likely issue is a decline from our payment processor (Stripe) or the issuing bank. If neither of these seem to be the issue, contact us, and we’ll see what we can do.

Where do I enter a promo code when making a purchase?

The option to enter your promo code is available on the payment page, specifically when you select Stripe as your payment method. This field may be less visible on mobile devices, so please look carefully for a section labeled ‘Add Promotion Code’.

Can I save my progress and come back later?

Absolutely! We understand that creating the perfect miniature might take some time, and your creativity shouldn’t be rushed. To save your progress, simply click on the “Save” button located at the upper left-hand side of the creator tool. You’ll be prompted to name your creation and save it to your account. Please note that this feature requires you to have an account with us, as guest users cannot save their progress. Creating an account is quick and easy, ensuring that your imaginative designs are stored safely for you to return to and refine at your leisure.

STL downloads

Digital downloads can be loaded into 3D printing software of choice (such as Chitubox, Lychee, PrusaSlicer, etc). Our STL models come in a Zip format, including three files- the entire model, just the body, and just the base). To unzip the file use an app like WinZip or WinRar. We do not offer pre-supported STL downloads at this time, nor can we promise that you will be able to print this on every type of printer commercially available, but we do highly recommend printing our models on resin printers.

Where are my files?

We will let you know when your files are ready via email, but as with all emails, they sometimes get lost in the warp- so be sure to check in your spam folder! All your orders are also available for viewing (and downloading!) under your Order History screen.

How long will my orders be available for download?

Due to space restrictions, we regularly purge the STL files for orders over 6 months old. After your purchase, we strongly recommend downloading your STL package to your own hard drive (or cloud-based solution) for long term storage.

Digital file samples

Of course you can have a couple of free models to test out!
Here they are:

I want to use Eldritch Foundry designs in my Kickstarter or board game

– Reach out to us at contact@eldritchfoundry.com and we’ll get you sorted out!

I’m interested in a sponsorship for my Twitch, YouTube or podcast show

– Reach out to us at contact@eldritchfoundry.com and we’ll get you sorted out!

Can I use Eldritch Foundry images or assets on my show/stream?

Sure thing! Just reach out to us at contact@eldritchfoundry.com ahead of it.

Can I sell a physical miniature I bought?

You can indeed. It’s your miniature. However, you cannot sell the underlying 3D model (or derivatives of it) without our prior approval. That’s what our Merchant License is for (terms and conditions apply)!

Can I charge to print your miniatures?

You can charge to print our miniatures, under the condition that the customer buys the STL directly from us, and you are only allowed to produce copies for the purchaser of the file, and must delete the file once the transaction is complete.

Does Eldritch Foundry own my characters if I design them on Eldritch Foundry?

You have ownership rights of your original characters (general and abstract elements). We retain ownership of depictions and 3D models made using Eldritch Foundry.

Do you have gift cards?

We do indeed offer gift cards in set amounts. They are e-mailed to your account within minutes of purchase, and can be redeemed as a gift card balance during checkout.

I didn’t get my gift card!

Gift cards are e-mailed separately from the confirmation email. They might get stuck in your spam folder, so make sure to check there. If it isn’t there (or was lost), reach out to contact@eldritchfoundry.com and we’ll sort it out.

How do I redeem my gift card?

To redeem your gift card, make sure you’re logged in to your account, and then under “Profile”, hit “Gift Cards” and place your gift card code in the relevant box. Your gift card balance will be the default payment method at the cart, but you can choose not to use it. Note that the “promo code” field during the final stage of checkout will NOT accept gift card codes — that’s for discounts and special sales!

Can I use a gift card to buy an Eldritch Unlimited subscription?

Sorry! But due to technical issues, we must have a credit card on deck for an Eldritch Unlimited subscription.

Where did my credits goooo?

In 2023, we retired credits, an old legacy system from our original Kickstarter, but we have got you covered, don’t worry! All credits in your account have been converted to their equivalent cash value in gift card balance. Besides allowing us to retire a system that was adding a lot of needless complexity on our end, this is actually even better for you, for a variety of reasons: you can now spend your money on anything, not just the particular item you had a credit for, AND your gift card total works in conjunction with sales. Enjoy!

Can I use a discount code and a gift card on the same purchase?

Unfortunately, our current system does not support the use of both a gift card and a promo code on the same purchase. This is due to technical limitations with our payment processing system and is a common practice in e-commerce. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Why can’t I use both at once?

The primary reason is our payment processor, Stripe, doesn’t support the simultaneous use of gift cards and discount codes. This is a technical limitation, not just a policy decision. Furthermore, combining these discounts is generally not standard practice for businesses our size, due to various logistical and financial considerations.

But <other retailer> does let me use a discount and gift card!

Larger retailers might offer more flexibility in their payment options, including the combination of gift cards and promo codes. However, as a smaller operation, we face different technical and logistical challenges. We strive to provide the best service within these constraints and are always working to improve our customer experience.

Do you offer subscriptions for digital downloads (STLs)?

We sure do! Check out Eldritch Unlimited, where you can sign up to get infinite downloads for a frankly unsustainably affordable price.

What’s the status of my subscription?

You can find your status under the “Profile & Subscriptions” section.

I’d like to change to a different subscription period!

– We currently offer you the ability to move to longer period subscriptions. You will pay the difference between your current plan and the new one.

– We do not have the ability to move you to a shorter period subscription. If you’d like, you can cancel your current subscription (so it does not renew), and then resubscribe to your preferred subscription period.

My subscription renewed, but I didn’t want it to.

All sales are final on subscriptions, and all subscription charges are non-refundable.

Can I put a hold on my subscription?

We cannot put a subscription on hold at this time.

When will my next charge occur?

You can see when your next charge will occur under your subscription section.

Can I use a Gift Card to pay for a subscription?

We do not currently allow subscriptions to be purchased with Gift Cards.

My card got declined when renewing my subscription, now what?

If your card got declined, our payment processor (Stripe) will attempt to re-charge the card for 7 days. You will have a dedicated link to update your card if you want to renew, and your Eldritch Unlimited subscription will remain active during this time. After 7 days, if payment still falls through- your subscription will automatically be canceled.

How do I cancel my subscription?

We hate seeing you go- but if you want to cancel your subscription, all you need to do is head over to your profile page – and the button should be right there in the top right. We designed it to be easy – no NordVPN shenanigans for us.
